Getting ready for Spring.

I hope you are all having a great week. My week has consisted of meetings at the school (that probably could have been emails!), making content, buying fresh, new bedding, and planting seeds in my new greenhouse.

I have been thinking a lot about Spring this week thanks to my Journaling Cards from Journaling Home and I am so ready for a spring clean of my home. It is in disarray because of how busy life has been recently, so it needs a big reset that I think may be on the cards for tomorrow because the boys are at a car show and I have the whole day to myself! Before you think “what a rubbish way to spend a day by yourself”, I am going to be viewing it as a self-care day, with my 2000’s garage tunes blaring, the odd podcast or audiobook and all of the windows open-which Alex normally moans at me about! I will then treat myself to a peaceful bath in a spotless bathroom with one of my favourite Trip drinks on ice and my new book purchase and bath pillow I picked up in Tesco’s earlier-bliss!

I am of the belief that living in a clean and organised home is self-care, especially when you spend as much time at home as I do! Our environment can have a significant impact on our mood and health, and I feel it intensely when my home is in chaos. That will then give me Sunday to spend some time with the boys, hopefully going to my favourite restaurant/lounge for brunch and a walk around the river with the dog. Do you guys have plans for Mother’s Day? I hope it is not a triggering day for any of you, but if it is, I want you to know that as someone whose mum has passed away and has no contact with her in-laws, I get how triggering it can be, and I send you lots of love.

Ok, so what have I been watching recently? Well, apart from the usual trashy reality tv and true crime, I have been watching SOSA Undercover since their new series started airing on their YouTube channel last week. I watched all of their previous series when they aired on Discovery + and I have now signed up as a channel member so I can watch their new series. It is both terrifying and fascinating in equal measure as a team of women, led by Roo, and working with local law enforcement, ‘catfish’ child predators in a certain area, pretending they are underage minors and agreeing to meet up with the predators in order for the police to apprehend them. The work they do is incredible and because it is all done in collaboration with law enforcement, the perpetrators can be brought to justice. Truly impressive.

I have been reading George Orwell’s “Fascism and Democracy”, while I wait around in the school or at appointments because it is tiny and fits in my Louise Carmen, and wow! It is still so relevant, it has been truly enlightening reading something that was written almost one hundred years ago, that still rings so true today. George Orwell was truly insightful and intelligent and I look forward to reading the rest of my tbr which has quite a few of his works in it! Highly recommend-especially as it is so cheap and a very quick read.

Not a very good murderer

In my ears this week has been the Audible exclusive “Not a Very Good Murderer”. So far, I am enjoying it-Ronan Farrow is someone I greatly admire and I enjoy his work and investigative style immensely.

Let me know what you are watching/listening to or reading this week.

Have a wonderful week, Happy Mother’s Day to all who are celebrating and I will see you soon.

Take care,

Love, Stacy x
