Paris for the day
Hi my lovelies!
I know It has been a while and I am so sorry. First, I managed to catch that dreadful cold that has been going around (no idea how as I barely leave the house these days 😂🙈), then I had a day trip to Paris planned for my birthday which I barely recovered in time for! It has been a wild few weeks! I took ages to recover, which was not helped by exhausting myself in Paris to be honest, and then when I came back to create more content, I found out that my You Tube channel has been shadow-banned!
Lets get into Paris first though, shall we?! Alex booked for H and I to go for a day trip on the Eurostar to Paris for the day for my birthday. I have wanted to go for ages because, like everyone I follow on TikTok, I am obsessed with Louise Carmen journals and wanted to go and customise my own in person. We booked it ages ago, so the tickets were only £39 each way which was so reasonable. Alex and I have been to Paris together just after we got engaged so he didn’t fancy going again, but H has never left the UK before, so he was very keen-even if that meant visiting some stationery shops with me!

Notre Dame
So, off we went, visiting some of the tourist spots, as well as the all-important Louise Carmen and Delfonics stores too!
We were so lucky to have such beautiful Spring weather and thoroughly enjoyed our (albeit very long) day. I will share more about my experience at Louise Carmen in an upcoming blog post very soon, I am aware I am already taking up a lot of space in the newsletter here already! You can check out my Paris Haul on TikTok or IG Reels in the links above.
Ok, So what have I been watching? I was so thrilled to see that some of you have also been watching Paradise and High Potential-I have nobody to talk to about them, so it has been lovely speaking about them with you!

This week, this is the only series I want to talk about! Just WOW! Alex and I binge-watched it all in one sitting (which for Alex, is a huge deal!) last night and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. This series is the best thing I have ever watched. The filmography, the acting, the subject matter, just everything about it was so incredibly impactful. As I wrote on my stories last night, Stephen Graham is an actor who always makes me feel uncomfortable in the most important and beautiful ways with his acting, I genuinely feel he is one of the greats of our time and my goodness, I really felt it again in this series. In fact, every single actor in this series was incredible. It is shot in realtime, and each episode is filmed in one take so you really feel like you are experiencing everything with the characters. Above and beyond all of that, the subject matter is so incredibly percipient of the influences on children and young people right now, the challenges they face with the internet and their access to it, the parent’s roles and the role the wider community, or ‘village’ plays in perpetuating or protecting them. It’s less a ‘whodunit?’ and more a “what role do we all play as a society in these awful scenarios?’. I could seriously gush about this all day, but I will leave it here by saying that this is simply a must-see.
Ok, what has been in my ears this week? I have been finishing up listening to the Bear Brook Murders series on Crime Weekly this week and it was very good. I haven’t heard of this case before this podcast, which is quite rare for me now because I have read, watched and listened to so much true crime, so it was interesting to hear the story, albeit super sad, especially as there are children involved in this one.
Reading-wise, I started this book this week (full disclosure, I have had this book for approximately six years just sitting on my shelf in my TBR). You know the kind of book that you know you want to read- need to read in this case I think, but it just has to be the right time for you to take the most from it? This is one of those books for me, and now is the time. I am sure most people have at least heard of this very popular book, even if they haven’t read it. It is a book of myths and stories based on the Wild Woman Archetype and I have heard so many times that it has been life-changing for some people. As we are creeping into Spring, I am feeling a huge urge to be more in touch with myself, connect more with nature and other people and heal, so hopefully, this will give me some insight or motivation to keep going. I will let you know how it goes!
Lastly, I have been so incredibly disheartened to find out this week that I have been shadowbanned on YouTube for making five videos that feature my son in private. They were some of the very first posts we made during lockdown, so I privated them because they have literally nothing to do with the channel nowadays, but having spoken to YouTube, they think this is the reason my videos are now not being pushed out by the algorithm. My views have dropped from the thousands on previous videos to 35 on the one above. This is a huge and devastating blow after all of the hard work I put into my videos and creating content and the only thing I have been told I can do is to unprivate the videos (which I have already), try to get as much engagement on my videos as possible and to be patient. I’ve got to say-that felt VERY unhelpful. So, if you are looking for ways to do a kindness this week and beyond, please feel free to interact with my videos as much as possible, like, comment, share-all that jazz. Thank you so much in advance if you do.
Anyway, those are the updates from this week and the previous few weeks really, we are now officially back to our scheduled programming! Keep an eye out on here this week for some Commonplacing Community updates and my blog post about my Louise Carmen experience.
I hope you are all doing well and avoiding that awful cold. If you have any recommendations for things to read, watch or listen to, please feel free to add them in the comment section below.
Have a wonderful week guys.
Love, Stacy xx
